Worker dies after accident at mine Toqui Chile

One worker was killed following an accident at Toqui polymetallic mining complex operated by Breakwater Resources in southern Chile, but not yet determined the cause of death, the miner said Monday.

Resources Breakwater (BWR.TO), based in Toronto, reported that the mine Statues, part of the complex was closed pending an investigation to clarify what caused the death of the employee, while the remaining operations continued normally.”We see an impact on production because there are two months of material (for processing),” he told Reuters Ann Wilkinson, vice president of investor relations.

For this year the company estimates to produce 35 000 ounces of gold in that operation, 83,000 ounces of silver, 23,000 tonnes of zinc and 600 tonnes of lead. Toqui is located about 1,350 kilometers south of Santiago.
