Monuments Council claim damages from the 2010 Dakar
The National Monuments Council (CMN) requested a compensation of 300 million pesos (about $ 570,000) to the National Sports Institute for damage to property caused the Dakar Rally in 2010 when he passed through northern Chile.
A report of CMN showed damage in 56 of 111 heritage sites reviewed after the race, of which 13 had loss of archaeological information and half high in the area of Quillagua, some 1,300 kilometers north of Santiago.
The study also caused damage of more than 50% at four archaeological sites, such as changes in lithic workshops used by prehistoric peoples for making stone tools or the tracks used by caravans before the arrival of Europeans. Read more »
