Driving without alcohol prevents accidents
Every weekend you can not miss the exit to the bar, nightclub or dinner. Consequently, most people take a drink of alcohol, whether beer, vodka, whiskey or red wine. This action immediately prevented from driving and that they are not in the best condition to drive. The best thing is to bring a designated driver who has not consumed any alcohol.
On September 18, 2003, in Mexico City began using the interlock in different parts of the city. This is a device used to determine the acohol level in the blood of the individual. This measure, the Public Security Secretariat ( SSP ), is intended to provide security for drivers and passengers who decide to party on weekends.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in 2008, seven in 10 car accidents were linked to alcoholism . Most victims of this kind of mishaps are males between 18 and 40.
Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Federal District government with its elements of the SSP policing the streets and neighborhoods known for having a large number of bars and clubs like: La Condesa , Insurgentes, Zona Rosa and Polanco, among others.
Driving without alcohol program
The SSP has 10 checkpoints in strategic areas to locate the drunk drivers. The procedure is as follows:
Selection of motorists at random.
The doctor comes over to chat with the driver and check for signs of alcohol consumption.
If you do not see any sign, the driver can move on.
Signs, the doctor invites the driver to take a breathalyzer test.
Take the test, which lasts less than a minute in which the individual must blow for 6 seconds into a mouthpiece of the device, which is a gas sensor that determines the amount of alcohol per milliliter in the body.
If you exceed the limit of 0.4 ml is taken to the person before a civil judge, who sent a delegation which will be held from 12 to 36 hours, depending on what state authority.
At each checkpoint there are 2 women police officers, 4 elements of the police sector, 1 doctor, 1 supervisor of the SSP, 2 cranes items, 2 items on motorcycles and a staff of the Human Rights Department of the SSP.
Driving without alcohol is a security measure to prevent large number of accidents caused by alcohol intake.
So we must be responsible and not drink when we go to drive. Remember, we always bring a designated driver that can save life in a time when our senses are not 100%.
