17 killed in Vietnam quarry accident
Police say the death toll from a quarry accident in central Vietnam has climbed to 17, with six workers seriously injured and one still missing.
Police in the Yen Thanh district of Nghe An province said on Saturday that workers used explosives to break up the massive slabs of limestone that fell on the workers Friday.
They said bulldozers would be used to try to reach the missing person, who is presumed dead.
Police are still investigating what caused thousands of cubic metres of rock to break free and tumble down.
The quarry is run by a private company which sells the limestone for use in construction of roads and houses.
